Strange symptoms after replacing the bomb

Hi List!

Mike Aiello has reported strange symptoms after replacing his PS pump. I
have observed some strange things after replacing my bomb.
1) If the car has sit for several hours, right after starting the engine
there's a loud pitched whine coming from the PS pump. It sounds exactly
like a bearing going south, but it ceases after 15-30 seconds and the
pump is whisper quiet since. I'm sure it wasn't there before I changed
the bomb.
2) After putting approx. 500 miles on the new bomb, I suddenly noticed
that the steering got lighter, the steering wheel isn't straight on
anymore and the car doesn't handle as good as it did before. Apparently
the aligment is out, but I can't recall hitting anything big enough to
cause the aligment to go out so fast. I'm going to check the suspension
for possible damage and then get the car aligned, but could the new bomb
be a factor? Yes, I know it sounds impossible, but you know, it's an
Audi after all ;-) Higher fluid pressure in the rack due to working bomb
etc.
3) How much does the Pentosin expand when hot? After replacing the bomb
I filled the reservoir to the half between min and max. If I start the
car when it's cold and let it run for a minute, the level is halfway
between the marks and I get ~35 pedal strokes after switching it off.
When the car is hot, the fluid level is up to the max and after it has
cooled down I get only ~15 pedal strokes. Is it normal? I've checked the
servo, it doesn't leak a drop. I have small leak from pump->bomb line.
Any suggestions welcome. Buying a new bomb was a serious financial
sacrifice for me, so I'm a little paranoid about it.
