RE: ur-q collectability in the US
<The totally unique 85 ur-q type had a build
number of like 73, so they are by far much rarer Vs the earlier
81-84 build type. So yes, model year-wise the 84s are rarest, but
that will be of no real importance to the typical collector.>
What?! In the US market, for US cars absolute prod #'s along with
options virtually determine collector value (investor interest assumed)
Nearer to your heart, try to find a 72 Blue 4sp T/A! Strike year really
low production
<Most collectors, with the exception of
the total fanatic, want the single best example possible of all
of the different types available, i.e., the ur-q 85.>
You just said 81-84 is a build type, so if 85 is a different type from
81-84, of what group is it then the best? Since there is no performance
difference in years, I suspect there would be little premium +- 10% for
similar cars. As evidence I offer the 85 UrQ from CA that was
advertised for quite some time 2 months ago on epages.
Fresh rebuild, suspension, 8" Ronals, 120K total?, nice int, extra
suspension & wheels turbo'd chipped etc, $8,500 BO.
