There was a thread a few months ago where it was agreed that there _is_
already a splice in the battery wire near/behind the glove box. It is
not shown in the Bently wiring diagrams, but a lister had a failure
there. You could splice from there forward. Not sure of the best way to
redo it, but I might use some beefy cable clamps (the bolt down kind,
not hose clamps) to hold the wires together and some mondo heat shrink
tubing. It would be tough to get enough heat in there under the dash to
resolder it without a fire and I think you have had enough trouble with
fire lately. :)
