Jo,

On the running problems, you might try running a bottle of Chevron's 'Techron' (available at Chevron stations, Walmart and the like)along with a tank of premium gas.

Definitely change the tranny fluid. Any good auto-sauce recommendations out there? (my cars are manual, dunno what autobox sauce to advise using)

First things first, buy a owners manual for it. Haynes makes one, as does Bentley. The Haynes manual is not as detailed as the Bentley, but the price is much more reasonable and is available at Pep Boys or the like.
