Something Stinks...

Something stinks in my '86 4kq.  It smells like burning grass to me (not
reefer!), like alfalfa to my wife, and burning plastic to my colleague.  I have
noticed that there is often a gasoline smell when I come to stops, but this
smell is stronger and more prevalent.  The smells seem to be coming from under
the hood.  Last night, I noticed the engine temp going higher than usual,
especially for a cold Michigan winter night.  PLease let me know if you have
any ideas on this dilema...
