Think of whats happening, push in clutch and slave cylinder moves the
throwout bearing assembly which pushes against pressure plate which
is connected to the flywheel which is bolted to the crankshaft. And the
crankshaft is moving longitudinally relative to the rear crank seal and
the
groove the seal has created in the crank where it normally rides.
