The MC max boost is actually 1.42 bar according to the computer maps.
The MC has a knock sensor allowing more timing advance. There are
other tweaks according the the articles, but this is the main
reason for extra power. The slight displacement increase is
pretty much canceled out by the lower compression ration.
If you look at the timing map for the MC, you will see it is way
advanced at 5500RPM, which just happens to be where they quote max power.
(Yes, there is a distinct _peak_ in the timing map - about 6 degrees
advanced over a smooth curve at this point.)
Don't expect the rated power unless you are runing very good gas.
