Somehow I knew Al was going to get flamed for that post about the H&R
springs. It is a tribute to him that he openly apologized to the list.
Which brings up an interesting point: how do we let the list know of
good deals which may not last or be too good to pass up? (Regardless
of whether you are doing the selling or not.)
It seems that several years ago it wasn't a big deal for someone to post
an occasional advertisement on the list. Then there was an enormous
to-do between Peter Wales and some other list members unhappy with his
"advertising", resulting in a big backlash against any and all "commercial"
advertising (completely uncalled for, IMHO). So now we are at the other
end of the spectrum, where a reasonable advertisement (other than the
occasional "I have spare parts to sell" or "here is a car for sale" or
special dispensation given to "established" list members) is considered
taboo. Certainly there has to be a happy medium somewhere, no?
If that list of H&R springs had included springs for a 4Kq for $150, I
would have been glad to see it. As it is, I think some other listers may
take advantage of it.
Disclaimer: I have nothing to sell, and have no affiliation with anyone
selling anything.
Sorry for the soapbox lecture,
