Check valve R&R'd, but...

With this in mind, I replaced the one in my 4ksq with a new one. However,
the problem remains unchanged (warm no-start due to vapor lock due to low
residual pressure). What's the next favorite? I also already checked for
external leaks and unscrewed the tiny screw in the back of the fuel pressure
accumulator since I was told that if it leaked without the screw the
pressure leak would be the accumulator's fault. Was this advice right?

Yes it is a royal PITA. The banjo bolt gets stuck to the valve probably
because it got more torque than the 20 Nm it should get since the valve
is torqued to the pump at the factory at 20 Nm itself. The result is
that the valve spins freely toghether with the banjo @$^%*! bolt & fuel
line _stuck_ to it, but the valve can't be unscrewed from the pump 'cause
the power posts block the way of the banjo. Since the check valve's hex
end sits next to the pump's body in between its power posts with very
little clearance, most 17 mm wrenches will not slip in enough to hold
the valve enough to unscrew the banjo from the valve. The only way I
could do it was to align the hex end of the valve with the hex end of
the pump and slip the open-end wrench not straigt but tangent to that
end of the fuel pump so that the wrench would hold both hex endings
thereby becoming inmovilized by the pump's hex end and holding more
of the valve's. This worked so well that the power posts were
untouched as the banjo broke free of the valve. All of this was hard
to do with the pump, valve, banjo and hi-press line all taken off the
car as one unit, and would be _impossible_ with the gizmo on the car.
Likely, this procedure applies to all K-Jet'ed Audis (at least).
Amazingly enough, this was my first check valve replacement :)
C'mon, listers, I told you how I did it. Now answer my questions,
pleeze!
