As the car heats up and the heat turns on, it just keeps getting hotter. Then
the upper dash vents start blowing (as I'm sure the system is trying to cool)
but hot air blows out. Pressing the auto switch turns on the compressor, but
it can't overcome the hot air. Setting the temp to LO sometines brings out
some cool air. It seems like control over the hot air damper is lost and
everything
else is working fine. >>
Ralph: same problem here in my '91 200q, and Andrew Duane is having similar.
Run the codes on the climate control (if you don't have bentley, email me and
I'll walk you through it). Mine says that the motor controlling the hot air
flap is putting out the wrong signal (error code 15, channel ??). I'll be
opening up the dash hopefully this weekend to see if it's the motor, dried out
lubrication, or a kinked/broken connection. I'll let you know what I find
out.
Mine started intermittant; try setting to "lo" for a while to see if it shuts
off the heat.
