Was it Al Unser after he got his but kicked by the ur-q when
racing an American 'purpose built' open-wheel hillclimb special
the previous year?

I heard they are paving Pikes Peak. Oh well, there goes a real American classic.
Good thing we still have the Mt. Washington Hillclimb, the oldest still-run
motorsport event in the USA and perhaps the entire world!
