MB radiator bleed screw

This might not be of too much interest anymore Phil.
Northern Radiators did a good job of rebuilding my radiators but managed to
overtighten the bleed screw, so the thread is now marginal. I had a look
though my odds and ends box (read junk) and found that the bolts that hold
bicycle cotterless cranks to the bottom bracket axle are the same size and
thread although the head is either 16 or 17mm depending on make. Ok, they
are steel so will suffer corrosion but they used to be available in light
alloy and titanium for racing bikes, they might still be obtainable from
specialist lightweight shops. In fact, come to think of it I'm sure that
I've got a set mothballed somewhere in my loft.
