As the owner of an '87 5000sq I've had the
same problem with losing brake boost. I have a leaking rack and just barely
leaking pump and do get the occasional air bubble in the system. I can usually
get boost to come back if I make a few very sharp turns at low speed, like
backing out of a parking spot. Other times it will last for several miles. I
should replace the rack but it doesn't seem to leak at all in the
winter.
