Quattro down=WDS

Michael,

And to others. What happened to Michael Sheridans' 4kq is what the NEQ
Winter Driving School is all about.

Put a car and a driver on a surface with virtually ZERO grip and keep it in
control. Then lose it and get it back.

Recovering from a big oversteer conditon as Jeff G. said can be tough to
impossible. It depends on the road conditions. Try it on ice and it's
tougher. Add the onset of turbo boost and it is even tougher.

You want to add power to get the weight back onto the rear wheels, not too
much or you lose it even more. And then you just don't recover.

So while this is a shameless plug for the school it has a point. The
neat thing about the NEQ WDS or Steamboat or others is that you get to lose
control. All day if you want in several scenarios. Nothing to hit,
nobody. Later in the day you can play with a steady speed on the pad and
then intentionally slide it out and recover it.

Now the school is at slower speeds than Michaels event but you get to feel
it and do it. Many people only feel it when it is leading to a serious
conclusion.

Michael had the right reflexes. Locked diff or not the grip wasn't there.
It may have been one of those times when you just don't get it back. It
may have been one of those times when the road conditions weren't right for
the speed he was going, 3K in 5th. You've got to read the conditions.

Quattros are NOT immune to hydrplanning. I don't care what you lock

If you are coming to the WDS you gotta call Bob Weintraub. TODAY please.
203-227-2445 He's got plans to firm up.
