Just one more data point for the pack.  My 86 4KQ's both have
had shorter gearing (I guess the 4.11).  My 81 5+5 had tall gearing.  
I always just assumed that the 5+5, as a limited production model,
was given euro gearing, taller gears being more appropriate for those 
with access to the autobahn.  I actually would have preferred the
5+5 gears--A lot quieter and easier on highway driving.
