They are stock.
They're sposed to be little black caps that fit tightly over these posts and
anchor the floormats to the floor such that they cannot migrate forward
and interfere with the pedals. Perhaps a reaction to UA back in the 80s....

them on the original 5ktq test (of course, that one also said "5000S
Quattro" astern (not CS?) although it was obviously a turbo. Also,
anecdotally, my 5kt came from a fellow who sold it due to fear of
vandalism! He was a nut about keeping the car factory perfect (alas I am
not so wealthy) and if orange "M&Ms" on the floor suited him, that was
probably OEM.
Really, though, the day-glo is for instant visual confirmation of proper
floormat positioning. Aren't those Germans thorough (excepting
doorhandles, Pentosin, and plastic radiators:)
