A4000 CSQ -Compressed lifters? What now?

Car: 1986 Audi 4000 CSQuattro
Miles: 150k +/-

I picked the car up from the shop yesterday after having the fuel 
distributor replaced. Now I have a new problem. The lifters are 
making a ton of noise. (Posted about this a bit last night) I went 
back today to the shop and he said that the lifters are compressed 
and to change the oil and see if that helps. Well, it didn't. :( 

Can anything free the lifters? Or do I need to have them replaced? Is 
this ever going to end?!?!?
