I would tend to disagree with this due to my own experience with the
4kq my dad had. My dad had some tires near to bold on his car because he
was helping me out after my5kq died so he put off buying new tires for a
little while. One day I borrowed the car and it began raining. No
prlblems with the car so i decided to see how much quattro had to do
with it. I reached down and turned the differential switch. Why did I do
that? I was going about 60-65 mph and then the car started sliding all
over the highway. I almost hit everybody. The car would hydroplane every
other second. I tried to switch it back to the original setting but it
didn't switch back. At this point I was driving about 35 and the car was
still hydroplaning. I pulled over and shut off the car. When I started
it back and moved off again it went back to the original setting. After
that my dad went ahead and put neq tires on.
Before he put news on I went to a big open parking lot that was empty.
I moved off as fast as I could and had a four tires were spinning almost
until i changed gears to second. It was pretty neat but, yes ,a little
redneck. I agree with you that tires make a difference though.
