4000sq tick tick tick tick!!!

I love my 85' 4000sq, it's my 5th Audi and I have owned it for 7yrs. 
However, there are a few things that seem to occasionally stand in the
way of total Audi enjoyment.  MY ENGINE TICKS!  Just sometimes, at first
I thought it was that hydro booster that rides on the cam, but that was 
only part of the problem, it still ticks...sometimes.  I change the oil
every 3k and I usually flush the crankcase before doing so, but the damn
thing ticks under no certian conditions, just sometimes.   How hard is
it to change lifters? Is this what I need?
