Gearbox conversion questions...

Hi!

Got a sh*tty 1990 200t. The gearbox is running oil all over the place,
less now which means it's running out of the stuff. I was thinking of
putting in a more reliable unit. I currently have the 3-speed
automatic tranny. It has been showing signs of harder shifting over
the past 2 months or so. My backyard parts supplier wants to give me
a box (5-speed, MR?) but tells me he will have to drill into it to make
a spot for some speed sensor. Undoubtably, I don't want to have to do
anything like that at all.

I know some folks here have also considered moving on from the slushbox
to the stick shifter, but I haven't been keeping up. To this end I would
like to know a few things:

	1. what manual gearbox will work best with the 200t (type 44,
FWD) 1990 2.2litre turbo car? Part numbers and gearbox
denomination details will help greatly. Also, what about
mounts, will they need to be replaced as well? Basically,
the question is: what is the gearbox fitted to the
manual FWD 200t in Europe and the States that comes with
all the proper fittings and should bolt on directly?

	2. what is the complete parts list for doing the job? Should
include all parts down to the little bolt that holds the
hydraulic clutch master cylinder in place.

	3. what are the best ratios for 165HP 2.2litre turbo motor?

	4. a big question: my backyard parts supplier (BPS??)
says I'm talking crap when I say I want a 016 box, he says
they either called MR, MQ or something like that depending
on the demarkation on the top of the gearbox housing.
What is the MR or MQ for? He says the rarest box is the MQ
or Victory series box. What is that thing? Anyone heard
	   of it?

	5. what extra subsystems will need to be removed when removing
	   the slushbox? What about hydraulics?

	6. what extra subsystems need to be installed into the MAC13A
(MAC12D) ECU based car as far as electronics go to handle
the manual box? What mechanicals need changing, such as
	   driveshafts, CVs, etc, etc?

	7. I might be mistaken, but I remember seeing something about
the manual tranny not fitting into the same slot as the
auto tranny 'cos of something different with a shaft from
the motor. Anyone know something about this?

Some extra questions about this:

	a. for a guy who is near stone broke and who is battling
constantly to fix the faults on his turbo car and who is
worried about having the gearbox die on him in the near
future, would it be cost effective to do this operation in
order to achieve a more reliable machine?

	b. my slushbox seemed to be overfull which may have caused
damage. Just how much damage can a overfill condition do
	   to the auto tranny?

	c. would a overfilled auto tranny cause enough problems to make
a turbo fed car seem like nothing more impressive than a
	   NA car?

I hope someone on the list can help me out with a complete description
of how to go about the operation of fitting a manual to a 200t auto FWD.

Thanks in advance.
