Yes, but only if you have enough speed and/or power to lift or spin a wheel. My 4KQ is too
underpowered to lift or spin a wheel on dry courses. On 4KQ I lock only the rear to help dial-out
that dreaded understeer and to allow the car to be driven more like RWD with power-on
oversteer. Locking only the rear would also eliminate the total loss of power with high-HP
cars like to ur-q, but I never tried rear-only on my ur-q when I was doing auto-x with it.
To lock only the rear just swap the hoses to the center diff actuator and the positions
now work like this:
#0 center only locked (good for rain/sno/ice) [was both open]
#1 both open [was center only locked]
#2 rear only locked (good for throttle-on oversteer anytime :) [was both locked]
