    You may have a broken cable. From what I recall, there is a hand crank
located under the ceiling panel which contains the sunroof switch and the
interior light. I think the panel comes off and the crank is accessible.
Although this is probably for use in the case of a motor failure, you could
give it a try to see if the actuating cables are broken. Audi recommends
cleaning and lubricating the sunroof cables and tracks on an annual basis,
so this may be a common problem.
    You may be able to figure out how to get it open from the Bentley info.
I've never had sunroof problems, but then I hardly ever use it.
