Another Deer & A4 incident
Folks,
In a very similar incident to Don Simcoe's wife's accident, you have me and
my A4 deer killer.
I hit a deer in the left (driver side) headlight/fender/bumper area and I
was going between 70 and 75 mph. Neither air bag deployed, and I do not
have side-impact airbags. I was not injured . . . I only really hit about
1/2 of the deer, since he had just jumped over the "jersey barrier" in the
center of the highway. He did not make it far enough into my lane before I
hit him. I was in the passing lane when he jumped about 10-15 feet in
front of my A4. The deer's shoulder area hit my headlight fixture, the
deer spun around and landed in the center of the road, that is what I have
concluded from the accident.
I talked to the adjuster today, the verdict is $4,926.00 (US) for a new
bumper (upper and lower), left fender, hood, radiator, and some other
internal engine components (one being a bracket). I have not seen the
estimate yet so I can not post the specifics.
One thing, the Audi Advantage (Roadside Assistance) was as prompt as any
towing company/AAA, but not much faster. Considering I had a cellular
phone, it made it much easier. It took about 1 hour 20 minutes after I hit
the deer before I was in the tow truck driving to my dealership 45 miles away.
Keep your A4 away from them damn deer, that all I have to say.
Cheers,
Jon Spreha
