Right.

Forget the pin - it's a red herring.  My problem was caused by the
different way they've drawn the ALZ compared to the ADV.  The pin is
simply the ALZ's version of the pin that locks the cross axle (carrying
the idling pinions) to the differential cage.

I now can't see _any_ fundamental difference between the ADV and ALZ
that would justify 'limited slip' applying to the latter and not the
former.  The only interesting point I can see is that the ALZ gears
are only available as a set - I presume they're matched up in some
way.

The external lock is pretty well identical, apart from some cosmetics,
with earlier differentials.
