84 UR-T tuning potential



I'm in a bit of a dilema regarding my externally  immaculate 2144cc 84 UR-Q.  I 
currently use it as an every day car, commuting to work et c.  
However this is costing an arm and a leg ever week in fuel, tyres 
& general expensive wear and tear.  Hence I'm considering putting the 
Audi on limited milage and purchasing a cheap turbo weasel for every 
day use.

Then I can start to 'play' with the Audi.  It's sadly in need of some 
engine work, (using lots of oil) so I'm planning to get it rebuilt, inc. a Dylinx 
manifold and generally improve the output from the engine.  Increase 
boost from 0.85 to 1.2 bar - looking towards perhaps a Hillclimb 
series to thrash another URQ which takes part. (Harewood,  Leeds)

My problem is.....
Is it worthwhile doing all this to a 2144, or has a 2226 10v got much 
more potential ?

I know whats wrong with mine, so my theory is I'm better with the 
devil I know.

Any opinions ?
