Re: Unintended acceleration (REALLY!)

Wow! This sounds just like my story from a few weeks ago. There I am
driving my 4kcsq in Vermont, heading from Mt Snow to Haystack (about 3
miles), so I left my snowboarding boots on (oh boy...). Start to apply the
brakes to slow down from about 50mph to get onto the access road, I shift
into neutral, and the engine takes off. Flash backs of old news stories and
legendary tales of UA scare me silly as I continue to press on the brake
(really, it was the brake). The harder I pressed, the more the car
accelerated (how odd...)! Luckily for me, I stomped on the brakes again,
and this time it started to slow down. Big sigh of relief from myself as my
4 pasangers wonder why I'm fooling around...

Anyways, I'm getting a good lawyer and hope to lay a fat lawsuit on AoA,
claiming the car tried to kill me. And if that doesn't work, I'll claim the
pedals are too close together for people who have width challanged feet.
Anyone with me???

Paul (feeling giddy 'cause I have 11 days off work to spend in VT with my
4k. And I'll leave the boots in the trunk this time. If it's any
consolation, my Mom had a 85 5k auto from back in the day, and it never ran
away with her in it...)

Q -

Just got off the phone with a friend of mine who has a 2.8(24v) A4 Quattro.
He was driving along up in Vermont someplace when the car just started
GOING. Threw it inot neutral and it kept reving so he pulled it off the
road, reached down and literally yanked the gas pedal up and off (not sure
why he did that) then turned the car off. Towed to local Audi dealer.

Cause? Corrosion in the throttle body caused the throttle to stick open.
This was one of the Schaumburg modified throttle bodies that I think was
about a year old.

Now, I certainly don't mean to start a 60 Minutes type panic, especailly
after a 5 minute conversation where details were spotty. I just thought
people might be interested to hear about it, especially if they have the
modified throttle body, an A4 or just in general.
