101 Octane

It's Saturday, wife's at work, I'm out driving my 86 Audi 5000 cst 5
speed. Just joy riding (I've only had it 2 months). Low fuel light has
been on 40 miles. I'm waiting for the tank to get low 'cause I saw a
TRICK gasoline sign at a Texaco station near work. I haven't thought
like this since I sold my 1969 Z28 17 years ago.

So I put in 5 gallons of 101 octane. I didn't fill it up ($4.00 a
gallon). Immediately get on Freeway. Drive 40 miles.

Noticeable difference. Smoother idle. Smoother acceleration. Boost
came on and stayed on sooner and longer(great fun).

Question: Does car advance timing for better gas?? Or is it just that
I have an old engine with 193K miles?? Any other comments??

BTW, I wish I could afford to put this stuff in the car all the time. I
do use only 92, though.
