4000csq fuel pump relay

Well tonight I had to replace the fuel pump relay again! this is the second
time in the last 8 months..... is this normal? Thank god that I did have a
spare, though I had to call my dad, who could not find it, then I had to
call my girlfriend, she had it there, I left it there after cleaning all
the crap out of my trunk to go skiing. Anyway what could be making the
relay's burn out, is it fuel pump itself, or could it be a ground, my other
thought is that it could be the fuel filter or fuel line being kinda
clogged and the fuel pump being kicked into overdrive, and burning the relay?
