Water pump squeal

I just replaced my water pump along with the timing belt, and tentioner,
when we put it all back together the water pump would squeal alittle bit at
idle, I figured that the pump just needed alittle bit of time to break
itself in, well it has not stopped a week later? Now there are two things
that I think could be wrong, the pump could be bad although it is a brand
new one, not a rebuild, or the belt could be a bit to tight?? does this
make sence? Anybody ever have this happen before?
