Quattro Badging
Well, a little more info on the quattro badging based on experience and
the respective model year brochures.
My '86 5000CS quattro had the 5000 CS on the left trunk lid and quattro
on the right trunk lid, with quattro on the grill. Matches the brochure
for '86 model year. Oh, car, as well as brochure, had quattro in rear
glass defogger.
Don't have brochures again until '91.
200 quattro, sedan and wagon, had grill quattro badge, rings only on the
tail, had quattro defogger.
V8 had rings only on the tail, nothing on the grill, but did have
quattro defogger.
'92 100/S4 - no quattro model in the brochure because of very late
introduction, however I clearly remember every new one I saw with 100 CS
on the left trunk, rings, and quattro on the right trunk, quattro on the
grill, and quattro defogger. S4 had S4 on the left trunk, rings, and
quattro on the right trunk, S4 on the grill and again quattro defogger.
V8 again had rings only on the trunk, but had V8 on the grill, quattro
defogger. Of interest as well, the S4 for this year had a steel sun
roof. Also, '92 was the last year for the trip computer until being
recently added again.
'93 - for all models was the first year without quattro defoggers,
across the model range.
same 100 quattro badging. Don't have any pictures of S4 badge
placement. V8, same as 92 except no quattro defogger. V8 was the same
for '94 and final year as well. I think I remember seeing a very early
build '93 S4 with the quattro defogger, but won't guarantee it. 100 CS
quattro was the same from '92 to '94. I believe that the quattro badge,
on the trunk, was not on any S4 from '93 on.
'95 - Of course the 100 and S4 changed to A6 and S6 respectively. The
A6 got engine size 2.8 above the quattro badge on the right trunk lid.
The quattro badge also changed from being just lettering to a smaller
silver rectangle with quattro in black engraved in it.
That's my input for the month.
