RE: Bent Valves

Thanks to all for the datapoints that you've provided! I truly
appreciate it!

It sounds like what I will do is to pull the head and have a valve job
done ... replacing any bent valves. This won't be such a bad thing as
I've had an exhaust leak for a long time and it will give me an
opportunity to resolve this at the same time.

I too am truly mystified as to the cause of the failure ... I still
haven't had a chance to open up the front of the engine to see. I
suppose that there are a couple of things I could have done wrong
(overtighten the belt, perhaps I damaged the idler pulley hold down bolt
when I installed it, perhaps I didn't have the crank pulley fully into
the key on the crank) or the belt may have simply failed. Once I get
the 4kQ on the road I'll start digging into the wagon.
