I spoke with Audi shortly after I purchased the car (July '97) and they
were unwilling to do anything. The story I got was that the original
owners of these cars that complained long and loud did get backdate kits
for free. However, the 20% greater swept area of the UFO's (12" or 315mm
rotor) makes a noticeable difference in stopping power, so I prefer to
keep them. The backdate setup I have heard of uses 11" rotors and users
have reported slightly decreased braking effectiveness.
