Yes, my mother's car once got "bad gas", or rather no gas at all.  The
local service station had filled her up with water.  She was able to
drive it home.  After that it never started.  The same service station
towed it and performed repairs.  The gasoline supplier (Agway) reimbursed
her for the cost.

There was no damage except for a thorough cleaning of the fuel system.
