Yes, BTDT. Used the 80/100 bulbs in my 4kq with their harness and there is
only a minor difference in illumination on the road due to the light
scatter of the stock US lenses. Converted to H4/H1 Euro system with the
55/65 bulbs and I'm living in a different world. I can actually see the
road at night. What is more, the low beams with the sharp cut off nearly
make fog lights a moot point in the snow. Yep, expensive; but if you plan
to keep the car for a long time to amortize the cost it is well worth the
expense. Looks better too.

P.S. You are correct, the 80/100 bulbs burn out a lot quicker.
