Cylinder head School Sports Day (was Olympics)
Well I did a wet and dry compression test last night and obtained the
following results;
from no.1 to no.5 cyl dry psi, 145 to 150,
from no.1 to no.5 cyl wet psi, 155 to 180.
Don't tell me but I would imagine that is a text book result for worn rings?
This car was sold to me by an ex technical advisor to the UKQC, "oh yeah, the
valve stem seals are a bit worn, here are some new ones you may like to fit in
the near future." Was I naive to think that he was telling me the truth to
the best of his knowledge, or that it was unlikely to think that he did not know
about the worn rings? Sorry for the whinge but I am a little depressed at the
moment and thinking of palming the car off to someone else and going back to
my fwd 80 sport. I realise that doing a compression test before I bought the
car would have saved me this trouble, it is something of a habit of mine to
learn things the hard way.
Graham.
P.S. any estimates for the cost of sorting this out? I would like to think that
I can remove the engine as that would doubtless save a few pennies.
