How to Handle a Door Handle
Hi All!
I guess it's nice to have problems like this, compared with, say, a
blown head gasket....however, they are irksome all the same and I would
appreciate any advice.
Problem 1: Drive door handle suddenly ceased being able to be squeezed
hard enough to open the door. It moves the release partway, but not
enough to trip it. Any way to deal with this without pulling the trim?
If not, what should I expect -- fixable or needing of a new handle?
Problem 2: Mass of wires going into driver door from A-Pillar was
recently respliced to fix the ones that had broken (a fairly typical
problem, I'm told). The mechanic did a great job: all speakers,
switches, lights now WORK....but, the mass of electrical-taped wires is
so fat that the rubber accordian won't stay in the access hole to the
door, resulting in a rubbing that is starting to get thru the tape and
into the wire insulation. Is there a way to glue the accordian to stay
put or is there another way to deal with the sharp edges?
Sorry for the WOB on these decidely unsexy topics, but I know I'll get
some very creative and useful feedback, as always, from this wonderful
resource!
Cheers!
