There's nothing spooky going on in Mr. Shield's kitchen...I think ;-). It's
just that the ethyl alcohol in the beer has a boiling point of about 78
degrees C vs 100 of water, so the beer will start to boil at a lower
temperature than my, er, emergency alternative coolant, which is
almost pure water, especially after you've had a few, unless you've got
big health problems. Urine has been used in emergency situations to
clean wounds in battle as it is nearly free of bacteria under normal
circumstances as well.
The guy who suggested it was premed and is now (how strange) in
internship to be a urologist.
