mobil 1

I needed a stiff drink after reading the q-list archive entries on the
pros and cons of using Mobil 1 synthetic oil.  So at the risk of
beginning one of those threads from hell, I ask the following:

(1.) I am moving on to a new 5-speed quattro A4 Avant.  What, if any,
reasons other than cost might there be against using Mobil 1?  Repeat:
What reasons other than cost against?  I already am well aware of the
supposed advantages, and two good mechanic friends both swear by it.

(2.) If I decide to go with Mobil 1, should I have the oil changed
before taking delivery?  How many oil changes would be necessary before
the car is purged of the factory-installed oil?

(3.) What weight or weights of Mobil 1 are recommended?  I live and
drive in a thoroughly four-season climate.
