In my case, I was charmed by my brother's '83 5000 Turbo Diesel. I drove
it once to the dealer and loved the way the car drove, rode, the seats etc.
I was driving a '73 Capri (2.6L V6) and having fun with that, but was very
impressed with the Audi's luxurious interior. After putting 200K miles on
the Capri, its transmission fell apart :-( and in '86 bought my first Audi,
the '80 5000S which I still have. I really wanted to buy the Alpine white
'83 5000T but couldn't afford the $8600 the dealer wanted at that time.
Last year I caught q fever, and bought the 4000Q in Feb. and the 5000cstq
in April.

I don't mind working on their various electrical problems, and I've studied
the I-5 engine so long I can see 'em in my dreams. Parts are easy to
obtain and not too expensive (thanks to the QList) and advise is never too
far away.
