Re: "the secondary market" (mild rant, again...)

In a message dated 98-04-11 09:50:03 EDT, you write:

<< Marty,
while I agree with your premise, why would you set your self up this
way. None of these are dealer only items. >>
I changed to a later model engine, and some of the parts (timing belt
included) are different. Wanted to LOOK at the part to make sure it was the
same. As far as the t-belt, some of the parts houses can't even get me one
for a '91 10v engine. And since I've ordered head bolts twice, gotten two
different types (neither of which is like what I took out BTW), I already know
that mail-order also carries a bit of risk.

<<Gasket set upper, $60 PEP Boys, tBelt ~$15 most aftermarket etc. Plus at
70 miles plus, I'd prolly call first >>
I did get the correct t-belt from a place in Nashville for $18.50, but they
didn't have the right head gasket in stock. I was in Nashville anyway, not
making a special trip to the dealer, so I was only out the time I actually
spent waiting on them to look up the part numbers and tell me NOTHING was in
stock.

     Later.
