RE: Ion blue lights

On the ion lights thread: I almost ordered a set from Blaufergnugen, but did
not for a few reasons: (1) I do not want the other team (read CHP et al) to
have any more identifying factors than necessary (love that rear fog light!)
and (2) the bulbs are halogen filament with gas inside the bulb, so the yellow
spectrum is not eliminated, which precludes the full advantage the true gas
discharge bulbs give (wider light spectrum).

They might still be a bit better than halogen, but I try to keep a certain
amount of anonymity about me on the hwy (my red paint doesn't help any
either). If lighting improvement is your sole concern, they're probably worth
the relatively low cost of upgrade. If efficient travel is a concern, you
might think twice about the distinguishing looks these bulbs give. The ones
I've seen to date have more color to them, owing to the necessary halogen
filament (yellow) which creates a blue/green look depending on the gas used in
the bulb.

My .02, FWIW. What's the wisdom among the resident lighting experts?
