RE: Trans failure verdict
I had a feeling... When they start to slip when cold, they are
generally done for. Sorry to hear about your tranny demise. I have
heard a few successful stories about 5 speed conversions. I was talking
to Mike Rooney, my Q-List mechanic yesterday about this very thing (Like
I said, I had a feeling). He's never done it, but thinks it can be
done. But he said it would be easier if you got the whole 5 speed car
whilst doing the swap. A 5000s 5 speed should do the trick. Bunch of
them selling real cheap (plus, think about it, you can now have 14
non-working window switches) 'round here (LA). Don't know about the
drive shaft swaps, and other stuff, etc. Perhaps some BTDT's can offer
help.
Anyway, Keep me Posted,
