Re: Alignment in Boston area..
Hi Listers,
Anyone have a recommendation for a shop that can perform a 4 wheel
alignment of my UrQuatt? I'm located in the north of Boston area.... any
BTDT horror stories that I should be aware off?
Donovan's Alignment shop in Waltham. Excellent service, and their main
business is doing alignments; they sell tires/shocks on the side. I
believe it's a family business. They are right in the center of
town...take the side road where the brewpub is, head past the huge
apartment building on your left and they're right after it. Look 'em up in
the yellow pages.
They did my 5kcst about a year ago after NTB completely screwed up the
alignment; after driving the car down 128 I realized the alignment wasn't
right, so I took it back, they drove in the car on 128 with me, agreed
there was a problem, and had it fixed by the end of the day at no extra
charge(they also balanced the wheels ON the car, something NTB didn't do,
which greatly improved highway ride.) The guy who worked on it also
noticed that several bushings were shot, and replaced them for us; he knows
his stuff. Was very resonable; parts were less than $20 for several
bushings, and he was right, they were a great improvement; the car had been
suffering from unusual(and annoying, esp on 128) "wander" on the highway.
As far as horror stories, avoid the Bear Hill Road NTW/NTB. They spent 5
hours, while I waited, trying to align it("because it's rusted and I can't
get it to break loose.") I was seriously pissed...aligning the car isn't a
challenge for a shop with all the right tools and supposedly "trained"
mechanics...my rule is stay clear away from Sears anything(excepting
Craftsman wrenches and the like.)
