RE: license bracket installation
Given the fact that "qualified" service personnel screw up the bumper
cover to install the license plate bracket ... I would posit that there
may be some production variation between the locations of the dimples
and the holes in the bumper. There was some talk about this on the list
a while back, and AAMOF my '88 5kCSQW has a front plate because of it.
If I were to install a front plate holder I would locate the bumper
cover drill points by coming back from the inside of the bumper with an
awl through the mounting nuts in the bumper. I'd then use the license
plate holder as a template to get the proper spacing nd then drill the
smallest holes needed for the screws to pass through. I've found that
it is possible to get an arm up behind the bumper with it installed on
the '88 5kCSQW ... but it sure would be a bunch easier with the bumper
removed ...
... yes there are captive nuts in the bumper for the L.P. holder ...
