The Audi File

I have the same book; I picked it up six months ago at Powell's Books in
Portland, OR. Very little coverage of Quattros though, and none on the new
A4 series, although there is some coverage of the 1994 A4. (The A4 did not
make it to the U.S. until '96, I think.) This book covers various pre-Audi
cars from 1904 on, and dedicates a lot of pages to the various '60s and
'70s models that I was, quite frankly, underwhelmed with even at the time.

So this is a cool book, but mostly historical.

Side question: I fell for Quattro, especially the UrQ, although the A4 is
my first Audi due to the prices and my needs at the time. But many listers
are dedicated Audi fans even to their cars of the past. What did a
1960s-era Audi have over, say, a 1960s-ere Dodge Coronet 500? (aka "Dart")
The American car was reliable, had acceptable handling, and was FAST. Why
pine for pre-Quattro Audis?
