Replacing seats, and totaling the car

Craig,
I just remembered a story that somewhat applies to your situation. I read in
Car & Driver several years ago that the seats were stolen out of a brand new
Acura Integra Vtech in Canada. Problem is, Acura does not sell the seats as a
single part, they only sell each little piece seperately. So, after the
insurance adjuster got all the part numbers for EVERY piece of the seats,
totaled their cost, plus the cost of the dealer putting them together at $40
an hour.....it turned out that the seats would cost over $9,000 to replace!!!
So, they totaled the car!!!!! Car and Driver printed the story because how
crazy the whole claim was,,,,,totaling a car for stolen seats! They could
have least replaced the seats with nice Recaros for lesss than $4,000!

Just thought I would pass that story on, since it applies to Craig's situation
with his Audi.
