4kSQ: Gas Pedal/Throttle Cable rubber isolators

I would recommend that any of you out there with 4kQs that have not replaced
the funky rubber isolators between the gas pedal and the throttle cable plan
to do so right away. The P/N is 431 721 559 ... and the silly car actually
uses TWO of the things!

I got an urgent call from the wife last night ... she was coming back after
picking up our daughter when the gas pedal dropped to the floor. Well, I
knew right away what the problem was, so I packed a few tools and tie-wraps
and was off to the rescue!

When I crawled up underneath I looked for the end of the throttle cable ...
and found it against the firewall with a big weight attached to it! I guess
to improve the feel of the pedal they inserted this piece in between the
pedal and the cable. As I noted above, there are actually two of the little
foam rubber isolators, one between the pedal and the weight, and the other
between the weight and the throttle cable. It was a bit more of a PITA to
get this thing supported to make the car driveable, but I got it done with
the tie wrap.

The reason I decided to post this is that while I was up there last night it
certainly appeared that the weight had a groove to accept some sort of snap
ring ... even though the fiche does not show one, I wanted to see if anyone
out there had BTDT ... If so, I'd appreciate hearing the size of the rings
and washers ... TIA!

I'll probably be doing this myself this evening ... I'll post up what I find
out!

Cheers!
