'87 90q 10v questions



Hi all,

I'm currently looking at a 90q of 1987 vintage, and have the following
questions:

- what engine code would the _European_ version of this car have? It's a
catalysed car (I think, as it had a German 'G-Kat' sticker on the 'screen,
with a licence number starting with 'AB'- Berlin area?). The engine code in
the trunklid (bootlid) has been changed with a ballpoint pen. Replacement
engine? (if so, what would be the code for a Euro 20v?)
-the car has _five_ Speedline alloys with near-slick tyres. Were 15" wheels
with 195/50 tyres standard? Tyre advice for this car? My personal pick
would be Pirelli P4000 or P5000 Vizzola (directional)
-Are 15" Speedlines 4- or 5-bolt? If 4-bolt, would 4kq 14" Ronals fit (in
both offset and over the brake calipers)?

-Any specific weak points to look at? The car has done 170,000 km, and it's
a German-market car originally (better equipped than our Dutch cars). The
asking price seems fair at $4k. No visible accident damage new or past,
slight wear of driver's seat, upholstery is cloth- not leather (are new
seat covers available? Expensive?)

-It's obviously had a towbar (trailer hitch) sometime ago- shame, I'd like
my 'new' car to have one, too. Does anyone know if a standard 80/90 FWD
towbar would fit a q version, or would the diff/fuel tank be in the way?

The only thinks I'd like to change are the black (Treser) taillights, which
suit the metallic black car, but look a bit iffy IMO. I've yet to test
drive the car, the battery was flat from standing too long, and the price
has been reduced by $500 after the car's been there for a month.
