K&N airfilter

I need to change my standard airfilter in my european Audi 100cc-85. As a
lightening it came from the sky - K&N filter I tought.

-Is there anyone on the list that have any experience driving with this
kind of filter? 
-Any suggestions on other filters? 
-Is it so good that it´s worth it?
-Needs my Audi less fuel if I change? Or more!!??
-Is there any negative if I change? (I´m not thinking about the price
here!)
-The cleaning of this filter, is it easy or.......mesy?
