Follow-Up on Mobil 1 Oil Filters

Mobil states that Mobil 1 oil filters are rated from 10 to 20 microns*,
depending on the application.

Up to this point, the best I have found for automotive oil filters has been 20
microns.

The best hydraulic oil filters I know of are rated at 5 microns.  Note that
these are used in indoor hydraulic systems for laboratory road simulators where
the ambient temperature never drops below 50 deg F.

So, maybe these filters are worth the $10.  I can't imagine that you can get
better than this for automotive applications, given the temperature range and
other conditions.

* Largest sized particles that the filter will pass.
